Role Description
As an IT Applications Manager, you will take on a people management role within an international and fast‑changing IT environment. You will lead a team responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of our contract management and data warehouse applications for life insurance.
Reporting to our Head of IT Operations & Applications, you will take on both day‑to‑day leadership and a conceptual and strategic role. You will help define the vision for future developments, keep the bigger picture in mind, and contribute to shaping our global IT structure.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow in the role and deliver tangible results within 2 to 3 years, even though the final destination is not yet fully defined.
Key Responsibilities
* People & Team Management
o Lead, coach, and motivate an international team.
o Facilitate hybrid collaboration and support onboarding of team members.
o Organise regular team meetings, one‑on‑ones, and performance reviews.
o Encourage a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and transparency.
* Conceptual & Strategic Thinking
o Contribute to the vision regarding our applications and hybrid operating model.
o Support process optimisation, efficiency improvements and global working methods.
o Maintain oversight and set priorities in a fast‑changing IT environment.
* Project & Stakeholder Management
o Define priorities, manage resources and plan deliverables.
o Work closely with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into solutions.
o Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
* Technical Oversight
o Safeguard the stability, security, and performance of the applications.
o Ensure proper integration between systems.
o Ensure compliance with IT governance and data protection requirements.
Required Qualifications
Profile
* More than 5 years of experience in IT, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, data science, or equivalent experience.
* Good communication skills in Dutch, French, and English.
* Experience in dynamic and changing environments; able to handle stress and ongoing evolution.
* Experience in change management with proven success in leading software development and implementation projects.
Technical Skills
* Strong knowledge of software development best practices and relevant frameworks.
* Experience with data extraction, transformation, and ETL processes.
* Knowledge of SAP, SAS, and project management methodologies is a plus.
Soft Skills
* Strong organisational skills and talent for team coordination.
* Conceptual thinking: able to see the bigger picture beyond day‑to‑day tasks.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, foster a positive work environment and achieve results.
* Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for interaction with team members, external partners, and stakeholders at all levels.
