Payments Consultant Our client is a growing boutique consulting firm specializing in payments, banking transformation, and financial services advisory across Belgium and the wider European market. Due to continued growth and increasing client demand, they are looking to hire a Payments Consultant to strengthen their consulting team. The Opportunity As a Payments Consultant, you will support leading financial institutions, payment service providers, and fintech organizations on strategic and operational initiatives across the payments landscape. You will work closely with senior stakeholders on projects related to payments modernization, regulatory change, operational optimization, and digital transformation. The role offers strong exposure to the evolving European payments ecosystem, including instant payments, open banking, cards, SEPA, and ISO 20022 migration initiatives. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of consulting engagements for banks, fintechs, and payment institutions Analyze payment operations, business processes, and customer journeys to identify improvement opportunities Contribute to payments transformation and modernization programs Assist with business analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering Support regulatory and compliance-related initiatives impacting payments activities Participate in projects related to: SEPA and Instant Payments ISO 20022 migration Open Banking and PSD2/PSD3 Card payments and acquiring Cross-border payments and SWIFT Digital payment solutions and emerging technologies Prepare client presentations, reports, and project documentation Facilitate workshops and collaborate with stakeholders across business and technology teams Contribute to internal practice development and business growth initiatives Candidate Profile Our client is looking for candidates with: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field Approximately 2–6 years of relevant experience within: Financial services consulting Banking or payments operations Fintech or payment institutions A solid understanding of the European payments landscape and related regulations Knowledge of SEPA, PSD2, ISO 20022, or instant payments frameworks Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills A proactive and client-focused mindset Fluency in English; Dutch and/or French would be considered a strong advantage What Our Client Offers Exposure to high-profile payments and banking transformation projects A collaborative boutique consulting environment with strong growth ambitions Direct interaction with senior leadership and clients International and cross-functional project exposure Opportunities for rapid professional development and career progression Competitive compensation and benefits package Flexible and hybrid working arrangements Interested?
