Reporting to the Senior Manager, Rights and Images, you will support the Studio Manager in the daily operation of the Photo Studio. You will be instrumental in the delivery of a rigorous programme of M+ Collections and Exhibitions digitization and photography for online publication, documentation, and promotional purposes. You will assist the Photo Studio to develop in the area of visualization technologies, including video, photogrammetry, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), and artificial intelligence (AI).
You Will Be Responsible For
operating the digitisation copy-stand to photograph 2D objects according to museum collections photography standards and requirements, and achieving agreed targets;
producing high quality imagery, considering exposure and colour consistency at all times;
cropping images maintaining file size specifications and re-touching photographic assets to address discrepancy and imperfections and ensure consistency in output;
overseeing accurate image naming and exporting, performing quality assurance per agreed standards;
ensuring accurate entry of image information in the collections database
maintaining and caring for Photo Studio equipment, setting up lighting and props for photography sessions following instructions from Studio Manager and Assistant Studio Manager;
handling photography requests and enquiries, and maintaining files in an organised photo library;
undertaking photography and videography of the collections, installations, exhibitions, operations, including production and post-production;
providing suggestions for studio workflows to ensure efficiency;
providing suggestions for compelling visual storytelling particularly for collection works;
keeping pace with industry standards, emerging techniques and technologies for multimedia; and
performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.
You Should
have a recognised university degree in photography, videography, cinema, museum, or cultural studies;
have at least two to four years working experience in a museum, gallery or professional photography environment;
demonstrate proficiency with Photo/Video editing software as well as Collection Management software;
have a proven good understanding of collections photography standards and requirements;
have a solution-oriented mindset and motivation to achieve good customer care;
be interested in applying cinematography knowledge to tell the story of the M+ collections
maintain a high level of focus with meticulous attention to detail in repetitive tasks that require care and precision;
be capable of working both independently and co-operatively in a fast-paced team environment; and
be fluent in both Cantonese and English
