Science|Business, a Brussels-based media company focused on R&D policy and investment, is expanding its news team with the addition of a new journalist to help with our daily coverage of Horizon Europe and EU research and innovation policy.
This full-time position is for an enthusiastic journalist with experience covering EU affairs and with an interest in how politics and money are helping move new technologies from the lab to the market. The ideal candidate would have a good nose for news and an interest in science and/or technology.
The successful candidate would join a team of journalists who are writing incisive news stories and analysis on the politics of science, as well as European programmes for research and innovation, science policy, academic freedom, and international scientific cooperation.
Key responsibilities:
Write analytical articles on European research and innovation policy and funding
Conduct research on EU documents and data
Interview policymakers and thought leaders in research and innovation
Participate in editorial meetings and pitch story ideas
Contribute to our daily blog
Help upload articles and produce the Science|Business newsletters
Requirements:
At least 1 year of relevant journalism experience, including some science or technology coverage.
Native or near-native English writing and speaking skills
Knowledge of French or German is a plus
Salary commensurate with experience.
Successful candidates can opt to work either as an employee or an independent contractor.
The position is hybrid, with three days per week in the Brussels office on Rue du Luxembourg and two days of remote working.
