Mission Description The organisation is implementing a private satellite communication network to act as a backup communication solution for: high‑voltage substation RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), operational telephony and control systems. This satellite solution is designed to ensure communication continuity in case of failure or unavailability of terrestrial networks. Scope of Services 1. Design & Implementation Engineering You will work in close collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders to define, validate and implement the solution, covering in particular: data traffic management and prioritisation, network management systems for configuration and supervision, configuration supervision of a central satellite hub (already installed), antenna and modem installation and configuration in substations, cabling and power supply design, application and system connectivity, configuration of transportable / temporary satellite terminals, related technical components required for operational readiness. You will: act as technical expert for private satellite communication technology, challenge, validate and improve contractor designs, drive technical issue resolution, serve as single technical point of contact and coach internal teams to integrate this new technology into existing operational frameworks. You will also: define, draft and execute acceptance test plans, produce technical documentation, guidelines and procedures to enable large‑scale rollout across hundreds of sites. 2. Technical Project Management Support In support of the project manager, you will: contribute to project planning, prioritisation and sequencing, participate in progress and follow‑up meetings with contractors and stakeholders, track progress, identify risks, issues and bottlenecks, support review and validation of bill of materials proposed by contractors, provide regular reporting on technical progress, risks and issues. Technical Environment You will operate within a telecommunications and networking department responsible for: transport networks for IP and IT systems using fibre, copper and leased connections, technologies such as PDH, SDH, DWDM and IP/MPLS, enterprise IP, Ethernet and Wi‑Fi networks for operational and office use, interconnections with external utilities and partners, internet connectivity, network security components including firewalls, DMZs and VPN concentrators, communication networks linking high‑voltage substations and data centres for: remote monitoring and surveillance, telephony, meter readings, disturbance analysis, protection system communication. A transition is underway from legacy TDM technologies (PDH/SDH) towards packet‑switched technologies (Ethernet, IP, MPLS). Required Profile & Skills Education & Technical Expertise Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong theoretical and practical understanding of private satellite communication technologies. Experience with satellite, microwave or comparable wireless communication technologies is a strong asset. Core Competencies Ability to quickly assimilate new technical information.
