About EDC
Within the EMEA Development Centre (EDC), the Electrics and Controls department is responsible for the development of connected solutions across Daikin’s product portfolio, including embedded systems, mobile applications, and cloud platforms.
Our cloud ecosystem (including Onecta and related services) plays a central role in enabling smart, connected HVAC solutions, integrating devices, installers, partners, and digital services into a scalable and future-proof platform.
Your Role
As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and evolving the architecture of our IoT cloud platform, ensuring it remains scalable, secure, and aligned with evolving business and regulatory needs.
You act as a central technical authority, bridging product teams, development teams, and external partners, and ensuring end-to-end architectural consistency across our ecosystem.
You will play a key role in continuously improving the Onecta platform architecture, adapting it to new use cases such as integrations, APIs, data-driven services, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & technical leadership
1. Define, document, and maintain the end-to-end architecture of our IoT cloud platform (device → cloud → apps → integrations)
2. Translate business needs into scalable, robust, and future-proof technical architectures
3. Ensure alignment across cloud services, APIs, mobile apps, and device communication layers
4. Drive architectural decisions balancing performance, cost, scalability, and reliability
Platform evolution (Onecta & beyond)
5. Support the evolution of the platform towards:
6. API-first and integration-friendly architectures
7. Data-driven services and analytics use cases
8. Multi-application and multi-stakeholder ecosystems (end-users, installers, partners)
9. Identify gaps, technical debt, and improvement opportunities in the current architecture
10. Validate architectural choices through proof-of-concepts and technical evaluations
Security, compliance & reliability
11. Ensure security-by-design principles are embedded in the architecture
12. Take into account regulatory requirements (e.g. CRA, NIS2) and operational constraints
13. Design with observability, maintainability, and operational supportability in mind
14. Collaborate with security and operations roles to ensure production readiness
Collaboration & coordination
15. Work closely with development teams, product owners, and other architects to ensure implementation aligns with architecture
16. Act as a technical counterpart towards external partners and suppliers
17. Support and guide teams in making consistent architectural decisions
18. Facilitate architecture reviews and cross-team alignment
Operational awareness
19. Stay connected to real-world platform behavior (incidents, performance issues, operational feedback)
20. Ensure architecture decisions consider run-time implications and support processes
21. Contribute to improving platform stability and operational efficiency
Your Profile
Experience & background
22. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
23. Experience in cloud architecture or software architecture (IoT experience is a strong asset)
24. Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservice-based architectures
25. Experience with at least one major cloud platform (preferably AWS)
Technical knowledge
You bring experience with modern cloud-native and IoT architectures, including:
26. Strong understanding of:
27. API design and integration patterns (REST, OAuth2, API gateways)
28. Event-driven architectures and asynchronous communication
29. Designing scalable and highly available distributed systems
30. Experience with technologies and patterns such as:
31. Cloud platforms: AWS (preferred), Azure (plus)
32. IoT & communication: MQTT-based communication, IoT platforms (e.g. AWS IoT Core or equivalent)
33. Compute & backend: serverless architectures and/or containerized services
34. Data & storage: NoSQL databases and event streaming systems
35. API & integration: API gateways (e.g. Kong or similar) and microservice communication patterns
36. DevOps & automation: modern CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform or similar)
37. Familiarity with:
38. Observability (logging, monitoring, tracing)
39. Cloud security concepts (IAM, secure APIs, network isolation)
