Job Overview
This role involves supporting the Customs Specialist in daily activities, with a focus on customs department operations. The position can be based at our headquarters or distribution center, depending on what best suits the candidate.
* You will serve as the primary point of contact for operational inquiries regarding export declarations and shipments of goods between departments, as well as interactions with customs representatives and authorities.
* In collaboration with the import department, you will prepare necessary import declarations for incoming shipments and assist in compiling documentation. You will monitor the accuracy of data communicated to customs through declarations, including conducting thorough audits of external preparations.
* You will track export confirmations and process invoices from customs representatives, along with preparing inward processing settlements to support export and import departments.
* You will assist in determining correct product codes, origin, and preferential origin status of products, both manually and using systems.
* Closely working with the Customs Specialist, you will ensure compliance with AEO processes and develop new procedures as needed, documenting and implementing them effectively.
* You will take initiative to enhance operational efficiency within the customs department.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Initial relevant work experience in customs is preferred, along with knowledge of international transport and customs software.
* You are communicative, assertive, have organizational talent, and are results-oriented.
* You are numerically inclined and punctual with attention to detail.
* You can work independently and as part of a team.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and initial experience with an ERP package (preferably SAP) is beneficial.
* A fluent command of Dutch, English, and French (at least level B1) is required.

About This Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate customs declarations, collaborating with the import department, and developing AEO procedures. They will also be expected to contribute to enhancing operational efficiency within the customs department.
