Senior Data Engineer – 12 Month Contract, Extendable
Location: Brussels, Remote / Hybrid
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our client's team on a full time basis. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that support advanced analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning use cases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* 5+ Years as a Data Engineer
* Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines for large-scale data processing.
* Build and optimize data architectures (data warehouses, data lakes, streaming platforms).
* Develop and maintain data solutions within Databricks environments.
* Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data availability and reliability.
* Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with governance/security standards.
* Automate workflows and implement monitoring solutions for data processes.
* Support migration and integration projects with cloud and on-prem systems.
WHAT WILL MAKE US HAPPY
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer (5+ Years) in large scale organisations.
* Strong programming skills in Python or Scala.
* Hands-on experience with SQL / Postgres.
* Strong experience with Databricks / Spark
* Expertise in ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Kafka, Spark).
* Solid understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).
* Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
* Excellent communication skills in English (written & spoken).
NICE TO HAVE
* Knowledge of machine learning / MLOps.
* Familiarity with data governance, GDPR compliance, and security best practices.
* Experience working in enterprise-scale data platforms.
