Position: EHS Manager (freelance)
Location: Bruges
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite; occasional remote work possible with manager approval
Contract: Minimum half-time; 4/5 or full-time schedules also possible
Role Overview
The EHS Manager will oversee all Health, Safety, and Environmental matters, supporting the General Services department to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment management
* Manage environmental permits and maintain ISO 14001 certification
* Conduct internal and external audits
* Implement organizational standards for environment and safety
* Prepare and monitor Global Prevention Plans and Annual Action Plans
* Coordinate emergency response and first aid teams
* Perform chemical and process-related risk analyses
* Represent the site in external organizations and liaise with local authorities
* Report on KPIs and safety performance
* Organize safety training and seminars
* Manage waste contracts and oversee external audits
* Serve as the point of contact outside office hours (~6 weeks per year)
Technical Requirements
* Master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
* Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1 and Environmental Coordinator Level A
* Minimum 5 years of operational management experience
* Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety legislation (regional, national, European)
* Technical and legal knowledge of energy, emissions, and noise regulations
* Interest in chemistry and chemical processes
