We are looking for a Junior Business Analyst / Junior Scrum Master who will join the Root Cause Rebels team as part of a structured 3‐month coaching trajectory, working under the guidance of an experienced Scrum Master.
This role is designed to gradually build both Scrum Master and Business Analysis competencies, while enabling the senior Scrum Master to focus on strategic initiatives such as AI adoption and the ZVZ monolith deconstruction project.
Role Objectives
* Develop Scrum Master competencies through hands-on coaching and knowledge transfer
* Support the team on functional analysis and backlog refinement activities
* Ensure smooth execution of agile ceremonies and team processes
* Act as a bridge between business, product, and technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
Phase 1 – Observation & Support (Month 1)
* Observe all scrum ceremonies (daily stand-up, sprint planning, review, retrospective, refinement)
* Support Jira board management: ticket updates, linking issues, board clean-up
* Assist in collecting and reporting sprint metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time)
* Take meeting notes and follow up on action points
* Provide logistical support for workshops (planning, rooms, documentation)
* Gain insight into business processes, user needs, and existing solutions
Phase 2 – Co‐Facilitation & Analysis (Month 2)
* Independently facilitate daily stand-ups
* Co-facilitate sprint planning and sprint reviews with the senior Scrum Master
* Support and start facilitating refinement sessions
* Assist in designing and facilitating retrospectives
* Support backlog clarification from a functional/business perspective
* Track impediments and escalate via the senior Scrum Master
* Begin active collaboration with the Product Owner on backlog topics
Phase 3 – Independent with Coaching Support (Month 3)
* Independently facilitate all scrum ceremonies
* Senior Scrum Master acts as a safety net for complex refinements or sensitive retrospectives
* Weekly coaching sessions with the senior Scrum Master
* Support cross-team coordination and alignment
* Contribute to Definition of Done and team working agreements
* Actively support functional analysis and requirement clarification
After Month 4 – Autonomous
* Operate as the day-to-day Scrum Master for the Root Cause Rebels team
* Maintain structured collaboration with the Product Owner on sprint and backlog topics
* Senior Scrum Master remains available for escalation and coaching
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Tasks & Deliverables
* Facilitation of all Scrum ceremonies

Required Skills & Experience
* Fluent in Dutch (mandatory); knowledge of French and/or English is a plus
* Knowledge of Scrum (Scrum Guide 2020) and agile methodologies
* Strong interest in business analysis, processes, and user needs
* Affinity with IT and software development (technical background is a plus, not mandatory)
* Willingness to learn and be coached
* Experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus
