Internship Position
The internship will focus on working on the design, testing, and the improvement/development of ISRU technologies such as Oxygen Production, building materials using local materials to construct habitats or infrastructure, and identifying Earth technologies that could be applicable for lunar surface.
The successful candidate will be part of the Future Projects & Exploration (FPX) Team from our Systems Department and will mainly report to the FPX Team Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 3 to 6 Months
* Start date: As of 2 Quarter, 2025.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Coordinate with various research teams across the EU via online channels
* Analyse and model various ISRU systems and their interactions to optimise efficiency and reliability
* Research earth-based technologies and lunar breadboards/equipment to:
o Gather relevant datasheets and technical information
o Architecture Design, Block-Level Design, or Schematic Design
o Provide early prototypes
* Examine the potential economic benefits and market opportunities associated with ISRU
* Support the business development activities.
Skills and Experience
* A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Sciences or Computer Sciences
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong CAD skills (preferably SolidWorks)
* Knowledge in:
o Chemistry
o Electro-chemistry
o Mechanisms and dust related impacts on the equipment
* Good knowledge of space or lunar environment
* Interest in the space industry and emerging technologies
* Good written and spoken English
* Knowledge of relevant software and tools (e.g., Excel, modelling softwares).
