Job Title: Remote hmong Medical Interpreter
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly proficient and empathetic hmong Medical Interpreter to provide remote interpretation services (via video or audio) for healthcare providers and limited English proficient (LEP) patients.
The successful candidate will ensure accurate, neutral, and confidential communication in a variety of clinical settings, including primary care, emergency services, and mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
* Consecutive & Simultaneous Interpretation: Provide high-quality oral interpretation between Hmong and English during medical consultations, procedures, and administrative encounters.
* Accuracy & Neutrality: Render all messages accurately and completely, maintaining the content and spirit of the original message without omission or addition.
* Cultural Brokerage: Identify and clarify potential cultural misunderstandings to ensure both parties reach a clear understanding.
* Ethical Standards: Strictly adhere to the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care and HIPAA privacy regulations.
* Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm in high-pressure or emergency medical situations.
* Technical Readiness: Ensure a quiet, private workspace with a high-speed internet connection and professional-grade audio/video equipment.
Required Qualifications
* Fluency: Native or near-native fluency in both Hmong and English.
* Certification: Preferred CMI (Certified Medical Interpreter) or CHI (Certified Healthcare Interpreter) credential.
* Education: Minimum of 40–60 hours of medical interpreter training (e.g., Bridging the Gap or equivalent).
* Medical Terminology: Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, and pharmaceutical terminology in both languages.
*No Experience needed Fresh grad & Experienced.
Technical Requirements
* Reliable high-speed internet (Ethernet connection preferred).
* A noise-canceling headset.
* A dedicated, quiet, and well-lit workspace that complies with HIPAA privacy standards.
* Proficiency in using remote platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or proprietary VRI software).
