We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our global Data & Genomics team in Gent (Belgium).
This will be an exciting opportunity to bring state-of-the-art data analysis and data modeling techniques to solve critical customer quality and safety challenges through data in the Global Food space.
Using statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, the candidate will actively participate in the effort to define, develop and deliver state-of-the-art data solutions to solve critical customer quality and safety challenges in the Global Food space.
You will work in a global team, interacting with a diverse group of data scientists, software developers and domain experts on customer-facing strategic projects. As senior data scientist, the candidate will actively participate in the discovery and development of new data-based applications in food safety and quality, as well as contribute to the overall data product strategy.
What will be your missions ?
* Optimize Data Workflows: contribute to the assessment and enhancement of data aggregation and standardization processes to ensure scalable and efficient data ingestion workflows.
* Data Quality and Customer Collaboration: Develops technical approach for data science projects, evaluate and ensure the highest quality of data, working closely with customers to leverage data effectively and meet their strategic needs.
* Innovative Data Analysis: Utilize cutting-edge data analysis algorithms to extract meaningful insights and support data-driven decision-making.
* Advanced Visualization Techniques: Develop sophisticated and versatile visualizations to present analytical results, enabling intuitive and impactful customer interactions.
* Identify Business Opportunities: Proactively identify and explore business opportunities where data analysis can provide significant value and drive growth.
* Ability to understand and frame problems, the technical talent to identify and develop the best data approaches with the team,
* Interacts with customers as needed for customer insight, business development support and project delivery, and the story-telling needed to identify and communicate clear, understandable insights to non-technical audiences.
Who are you ?
* 4-year degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
* 5 years of experience in data science with focus on analyzing data
* 5 years of programming experience in at least one of the most employed programming languages in data science: Python, R, or similar high level languages
* Demonstrated Python proficiency and knowledge of Javascript, CSS and other programming languages for the web and data visualization are preferential
* Experience with common productivity software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Comfort working in a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to function within the multidisiplinary set up
* Strong communication, collaboration and support with key internal teams to deliver successful projects and solutions; close team interactions include software development, bioinformatics, project management, sales, marketing and executive management
Proven experience in machine learning and statistical modeling
* Proven experience in software and/or pipeline development for data science needs
* Fluent in Python for data science applications
* Fluent in English, and knowledge of French, Spanish and / or Portuguese is a plus
* Travel up to 10%+
