About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced imaging and sensing systems within a highly innovative engineering environment.
This role sits at the centre of product development, acting as the technical link between customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing. You will be responsible for understanding customer needs, defining system requirements and specifications, and driving projects from concept through development, integration, testing, and delivery.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of next-generation camera and imaging technologies, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across software, electronics, mechanical, optical, and production engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Capture, analyse, and manage customer and stakeholder requirements.
* Translate customer needs into clear system requirements, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria.
* Define system architectures and high-level technical solutions.
* Lead systems engineering activities throughout the full product lifecycle.
* Develop project plans and coordinate technical activities across engineering and manufacturing teams.
* Allocate requirements to software, electronics, mechanical, optical, and assembly teams.
* Manage requirements traceability, verification, and validation activities.
* Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and product qualification.
* Identify and manage technical risks, issues, and change requests.
* Act as a technical focal point for internal stakeholders and external customers.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and methodologies.
Required Experience
* Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
* Proven experience in a Senior Systems Engineering position within a complex engineering environment.
* Strong background in requirements capture, requirements management, and system specification development.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary product development programmes from concept through delivery.
* Knowledge of system integration, verification, and validation processes.
* Excellent stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
* Experience coordinating activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
Highly Desirable
* Experience within the space, aerospace, defence, or advanced technology sectors.
* Experience working on imaging systems, optical payloads, sensors, camera systems, or other complex hardware products.
* Knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
* Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
* Familiarity with regulated engineering environments and product lifecycle management processes.
