EHS ADVISOR
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Implementation, compliance, and management of the company Safety Management System on site – ensuring a consistent approach to EHS across the project.
1. Implementation, compliance, and management of relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions and legislation on the project.
2. Implementation, compliance, and management of the company and PSCS / Main Contractor Environmental, Health & Safety Plans on the project. Coordination in the development of task-specific method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permit-to-work systems on site.
3. Implementation, compliance, and management of the project-specific execution plan.
4. Coordination, implementation, compliance, and management of project safety indicators as identified in company analytical reports.
5. Implementation, compliance, and management of good safety practices, ensuring they are consistently maintained on site.
6. Involvement in the onboarding and management of all subcontractors working on site, including regular auditing of contractors.
7. Ensuring that safety interventions are completed and recorded by the project EHS team, with results/findings issued to the Sector EHS Manager, Sector Director, and Group EHS Department.
8. Carrying out regular site audits and inspections, documenting results, and following up on corrective actions with the Sector EHS Manager, SBU Manager, and Group EHS Department.

Audit Expectations of a Junior EHS Advisor:
10. 01 Compliance Audit per week
11. 03 Safe Plans of Action per day (depending on site numbers)
12. 01 Environmental Audit per month
13. Participation in High-Risk Activity (HRA) audits as required.
Participation in subcontractor audits as required and as directed by the SBU EHS Lead.
Implementation, compliance, and management of a proactive approach to project and client EHS requirements.
14. Ensuring that subcontractors adhere to project and company EHS policies and procedures.
15. Attending project-related EHS meetings as necessary (internal and external).
16. Maintaining a strong site presence – approximately 70–80% of time spent on site guiding and educating the workforce on EHS matters.
17. Learning and implementing EHS processes used on site under the guidance of senior management and the EHS Manager.
18. Ensuring that site induction and training are coordinated, managed, and maintained by the EHS team in line with company requirements.
19. Preparing and delivering toolbox talks as required.
20. Assisting in accident investigations and reporting.
21. Inspecting and ensuring welfare and hygiene facilities are in place and properly maintained.
22. Liaising with site project management and client management on environmental, health, and safety matters.
23. Ensuring waste reduction and recycling programmes are maintained in line with project policies and procedures.
24. Ensuring sustainability and wellness programmes are implemented and maintained in line with project policies and procedures.
25. Escalating all EHS matters to senior project managers and the SBU EHS Lead.
26. Communicating EHS requirements to the workforce.
27. Carrying out any other duties associated with this role.
Wat wij van jou vragen:
Essential Criteria
28. Provide Safety input to site management & at site EHS forums.
29. Level 6 / 7 - Safety Certificate or similar
30. HETAC Level 8 (H-Dip or Degree) qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety – desirable but not essential.
31. Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation
32. Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
33. Ability to efficiently assist with all environmental, health and safety issues on site.
34. Strong communication & computer skills,
35. Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
36. Previous experience in Construction Operations not essential but helpful.
37. Professional certification
38. Travel may be required for this position.
39. Second language for the region of work would be an advantage.
