Description
We’re looking for a talented On the Road (OTR) Safety Specialist to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure safety OTR risks are managed. This is a brand-new role and we will expect you to support our Amazon Work Health Safety (WHS) culture with the site leaders, DSP, HUB AMFLEX, EDSP and Channel team, and be instrumental in embedding Amazon Road Safety policies and processes and ensure compliance to all applicable local legislative obligations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizen, you will lead continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful OTR Safety Specialist will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with Last Mile Operations Team and inspire change by providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the growth and consolidation of On Road Safety area in AMZL across the Last Mile network.
* Analyze safety metrics and review incident trends to allocate resources to areas with the highest WHS risk.
* Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards. Develop local site WHS procedures and processes to meet Amazon Global Standards.
* Collaborate with the ROW implementation Manager and Global Road Safety teams to automate reports to support Operation Teams.
* Partner with ACES and Learning teams to develop and provide appropriate road safety training courses and observation, as required, to ensure drivers’ adherence to policy and training procedures.
* Partner with Austin (internal safety incident reporting and action tracking system) developers to ensure WHS systems are designed with On Road inputs and metric outputs in mind when forms are developed.
* Engage and work with third-party service providers (DSPs, HUB, AMFlex and HUB) and carriers of transportation services to strengthen compliance with on-road safety requirements.
* Carry out sensitivity analysis and create decision models to identify risk, surface opportunities, and prevent similar incidents.
* Develop, initiate and support On The Road WHS strategic programs for continuous improvement.
* Support the WHS BRA POC for On The Road Safety matters and work across Last Mile programs (DSPs, HUB, AMFlex and HUB) in a cross-functional environment, maintaining clear communication for accurate information flow.
* Periodically review OTR incidents reported on quality reporting, corrective actions and closure.
* Provide gap assessments to site teams.
* Support OTR safety tech implementation and other OTR initiatives as per roadmap.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* Experience in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications, including pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
* Advanced English
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
