Fractional Business Development Consultant (1–2 days per week, with full flexibility)
Black Swans Exist is partnering with a confidential, venture-backed biotech company developing next-generation therapeutics to improve outcomes in organ transplantation .
We are now looking for a part-time/fractional Business Development Consultant to help shape and execute the company’s partnering strategy—hands‑on, operational, and outcome-driven.
The Role
This is not a “strategy deck” position. It’s a high-agency, execution role where you leverage your network, create access, open doors, and move opportunities forward.
You will be responsible for identifying, approaching, and building relationships with potential partners across biotech, pharma, and medical device —with a particular emphasis on the transplantation ecosystem (including organ perfusion technologies and adjacent areas).
Expected commitment: 1–2 days per week, with full flexibility.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Partnering & Deal Origination
Identify and develop partnership opportunities.
Pursue transaction opportunities including licensing, broader strategic collaborations, and where relevant M&A pathways .
Help secure partnerships that can co‑fund or enable future clinical studies (e.g., Phase 2a).
Systematically engage decision‑makers across a defined target list of companies in Asia, North America, and Europe .
Activate your personal network to open doors and generate high‑quality meetings with the right stakeholders (e.g., BD leadership, therapeutic area heads, innovation, corporate development).
Represent the company at key international conferences to build momentum and advance active dialogues.
Process Ownership & Execution
Drive the process from first contact through early negotiations and initial due diligence in close collaboration with the company’s leadership team and board.
Ensure the company’s value proposition and narrative are communicated clearly and tailored to each prospective partner.
Provide structured progress reporting against agreed success criteria (e.g., qualified meetings, active dialogues, partnership milestones).
What We’re Looking For
Proven track record in Business Development within biotech/pharma (or highly relevant medtech partnering).
A strong, active network in organ transplantation, immunology, or closely related therapeutic areas.
Experience driving and structuring complex partnerships, licensing agreements, and/or M&A processes.
A proactive, hands‑on operating style with the ability to run processes end‑to‑end with limited infrastructure.
Strong communication and negotiation skills in English .
Comfortable working with speed and ambiguity in a small, ambitious startup environment.
Location is flexible, but a network in North America and/or Europe is essential.
