For one of our major clients in Brussels, we are looking for a Senior System Design Engineer / Senior Network Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operation of enterprise network and security infrastructures.

You will act as a technical authority for WAN, LAN, and Wireless environments, combining strong design capabilities with hands‐on operational experience. Key responsibilities Evaluate business and technical requirements and translate them into robust system and network designs Assess design benefits, risks, and trade‐offs, and validate compliance with requirements Support and oversee the deployment of approved designs into production environments Design, implement, operate, and optimize enterprise WAN, LAN, and Wireless infrastructures Act as technical authority for Fortinet and Aruba environments Perform complex incident resolution and root cause analysis Use engineering and development tools to address technology evolution, capacity management, and performance optimization Proactively propose improvements to existing systems, processes, and services Maintain and update technical documentation through clear and structured technical writing Participate in on‐call duty, including night operations, for the systems under your responsibility Required technical competencies WAN / Security (mandatory) Fortinet expertise: FortiGate, FortiManager SD‐WAN architectures BGP routing IPsec VPN technologies Firewall policy design and rule management Advanced troubleshooting and debugging LAN HPE Aruba switching Cisco enterprise switching Core switching environments Aruba Central (on‐prem) VLANs, routing, and redundancy designs Wireless Aruba Access Points Aruba AirWave Enterprise Wi‐Fi design, optimization, and troubleshooting General networking Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and switching fundamentals Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and alerting Knowledge of high‐availability and failover designs Profile & experience 5+ years of experience in system engineering, network infrastructure, or system design roles Proven hands‐on experience in production environments Ability to work independently and take full ownership of technical domains Strong analytical thinking, adaptability, collaboration, and result‐driven mindset Languages Dutch: C1 English: C1 French: B1 What can Econocom offer you?
