The Robotics Software and Intelligence (RSI) Division is responsible for the study, design, prototyping and development of state-of-the-art robotics products for our customers.Internship PositionThis internship will be centred around several robotics projects, with a particular focus on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), sensor data collection, and the preparation of data for training neural networks. These efforts are crucial for enhancing the detection of buried objects.The internship will involve the collection, processing, and analysis of sensor data, as well as supporting the automatic detection of hyperbolic signatures. This internship can also be structured to meet the requirements of a master’s thesis.The successful candidate will work within the Robotics, Software & Intelligence (RSI) Team and will gain valuable experience in sensor data processing and artificial intelligence. The candidate will mainly report to the RSI Team Lead.•Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)•Duration: 6 Months•Start date: As of Quarter 2, 2025.Tasks and Responsibilities•Work with a mobile or aerial robot to gather data•Gather Data to build diverse datasets using the sensor across various scenarios•Analyse and annotate the hyperbolas in the datasets to estimate the depth and radius of the targets•Support the development of deep learning models for automatic detection of hyperbolic features•Conduct depth estimation experiments to evaluate the impact of surface dielectric properties•Assist the integration and performance evaluation of detection models in real-world applications with sensor and robot•Document and report the findings of data analysis and model performance to the research team.Skills and Experience•Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Data Science or a similar University program•Basic knowledge and understanding of:C++, Python programming in UbuntuOpen CV and image processing techniquesML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)Deep learning fundamentals and object detection techniques.Considered as Assets•Ability to document and communicate technical findings clearly•Knowledge and Experience in:ROS frameworkSensor data labelling or analysisRadar systems or subsurface sensingDeep learning model training and deployment.Our Offer•An experience within a growing company with highly motivated Engineers, Scientists and Administrative Staff coming from all different horizons and countries•A professional and multicultural working atmosphere•A client exposure and networking opportunities •A full-time Internship with a monthly lump sum allowance, under certain conditions.
