Overview
We are supporting a leading financial services organisation in Belgium in their search for a Databricks Lead Architect / Specialist Engineer to drive the design and delivery of a next-generation data platform.
This is a high-impact role focused on building and scaling a modern lakehouse architecture, enabling advanced analytics, data engineering, and AI use cases across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Databricks-based data platforms
* Define and enforce best practices for data engineering, governance, and performance optimisation
* Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
* Drive adoption of Databricks Lakehouse across multiple domains
* Mentor and guide data engineers and technical teams
* Optimise pipelines using Spark / PySpark and Delta Lake
* Ensure robust data security, compliance, and governance aligned with financial regulations
* Work closely with cloud teams (Azure preferred) to integrate data services
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (architecture + engineering)
* Proven track record as a Lead Architect / Senior Data Engineer
* Expertise in:
* Apache Spark / PySpark
* Delta Lake
* Data modelling & ETL/ELT design
* Experience with Azure Data Platform (ADLS, Data Factory, Synapse is a plus)
* Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (ideally within financial services)
* Experience leading teams and engaging with senior stakeholders
* Strong communication skills xphnsxz in an international environment
Nice to Have
* Experience in banking, insurance, or financial services
* Knowledge of ML / AI workflows on Databricks
* Databricks certifications
