What you will do
Compute System Architecture (CSA) is a center of excellence at IMEC, focused on HW-SW-Technology co-design for future compute systems.
As a network architect/researcher in CSA at IMEC, you will play a key role in pioneering future machine-scale network designs with emerging architectural and technological innovations such as photonics/optical interconnects and wireless technologies. Your responsibilities include working with network models, customizing them as needed, considering the target innovations, and designing/running experiments to advance research. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and colleagues within and outside CSA to interface with workload models and incorporate technological aspects.
* Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering.
* 6+ years (4+ post-PhD) of relevant experience. (Candidates with slightly less experience but strong fit are encouraged to apply.)
* Strong expertise in large-scale network design, including topology, routing, congestion control, communication protocols, and resilience; along with performance analysis such as traffic modeling and network characterization.
* Experience with network modeling tools such as NS3, OMNET++, SSTMerlin, etc.
* Familiarity with networks-on-chip is a plus.
* Optional: Familiarity with recent industry initiatives like Ultra-ethernet, CXL, UALink.
* Good knowledge of software/hardware engineering practices, including quality, version control, CI, and unit testing.
* Hands-on approach and ability to mentor junior colleagues, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
