Design at Proximus is evolving from strong individual craft to a scalable, high performing system.The Design Coach in the DesOps team plays a critical role in making this shift happen, not by "doing design", but by enabling designers, squads and leaders to work better, faster and more consistently.This is a leverage role: your impact is measured by adoption, maturity and sustained change.
Your MissionAs a Design Coach in the DesOps team, you create the conditions for design excellence to happen at scale.You help designers and squads translate Design Ops strategy, frameworks and tools into real, day to day behaviors that stick.You act as a connector between:Chapter Owners & DesOps prioritiesGuild Leads & craft standardsDesigners & squads' operational reality
Key Responsibilities
1. Design enablement & adoptionEnable designers and squads to apply shared design practices, methods and ways of working consistently.Drive adoption of DesignOps initiatives (methods, frameworks, tools, platforms) in real delivery contexts.Translate strategy and vision into concrete habits, rituals and working models.
2. Coaching & on-the-job SupportCoach designers in context, focusing on collaboration, problem framing, decision-making and stakeholder alignment.Support squads in applying end-to-end design thinking, from discovery to delivery.Act as a trusted sparring partner for Chapter Owners on team dynamics, maturity and challenges.
3. Facilitation & Capability BuildingDesign and facilitate workshops, trainings and learning formats that raise design maturity across squads.Support onboarding and upskilling of designers in common methods and shared language.Create safe spaces for teams to reflect, learn and improve together.
4. Change & Culture CatalystActively evangelize design as a strategic capability, not just a delivery function.Foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation and continuous improvement.Help teams navigate ambiguity and change with clarity and confidence.
5. System & Stakeholder CollaborationWork closely with Guild Leads, Chapter Owners, CoEs and DesOps peers to ensure alignment and coherence.Connect dots across chapters and initiatives to avoid silos and duplication.Surface insights from the field to continuously improve the DesignOps system.
Who we're looking for
Experience & mindset8+ years of experience, both in coaching and delivering real design work, are essential. Senior experience in Design Ops is a plusComprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end design process, particularly in a complex agile corporate organizationProven track record in driving adoption and change, not just proposing frameworks.Strong understanding of design in complex, multidisciplinary environments.The type of design expertise (e.g., UX, service design, business design) can vary, but a candidate with diverse design experience is highly valued.Comfortable influencing without formal authority.Skills that make you thrive hereExcellent facilitation and coaching skills (1:1 and group).Strong systems thinking you see patterns, dependencies and leverage points.Analytical thinking and ability to translate abstract strategy into practical, usable guidance.High emotional intelligence and stakeholder sensitivity.
Personal qualitiesOptimistic, empathetic and energizing.Curious and reflective, you learn from the field continuously.Pragmatic: you care about what actually works in real teams.Fluent in English and French or Dutch, with at least a good understanding of the second national language.Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Passion for user-centered design, design thinking and experimenting with modern technologies and methods
