Job DescriptionThe Head of Communication plays a key role as an internal curator and communication catalyst for our Private Members Club TheMerode. This role involves gathering, interpreting, and capitalizing on information, identifying communication opportunities, and creating new avenues for communication. Acting as a solution provider, he/she transforms every event, topic, or story into a strategic communication asset, contributing to TheMerode's brand development.The mission of communication at TheMerode is to clearly explain what makes the Club unique compared to any other. TheMerode is an alternative club, and the Head of Communication must be able to articulate this difference to various audiences. The communication mission is both:Internal: fostering member loyalty (“farming”), energizing networking within the Club, creating a dynamic and inspiring atmosphere.External: increasing brand awareness, recruiting new members, and consistently explaining TheMerode’s alternative and innovative positioning.Additionally, the Head of Communication is the internal guardian of the brand, ensuring consistent brand identity across all internal TheMerode tools and platforms, including programming materials, community engagement, in-house and external communications.TheMerode integrates five departments – including Community, Experience, Programming and others – whose communication must be coherent and synergistic. This role will also take charge of the communication for Oken (cocktail bar), Ciao (Italian restaurant), and TheStables Café.The primary goals are to develop awareness, ensure loyalty, support acquisition strategies, and infuse vibrancy, dynamism, and inspiration throughout all touchpoints.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Communication PlanningDevelop and execute annual communication plans (internal & external) aligned with business objectives.Identify key messaging, channels, and target audiences for each plan.Deeply understand member expectations, the Club’s differentiation factors, and strategic segments.Identify TheMerode’s place in a city like Brussels, determine the key target audiences, and clearly convey the Club’s alternative, innovative value proposition.Oversee the communication plan by collecting information from different TheMerode departments, identifying and prioritizing opportunities, and crafting agency briefings.Secure internal approval from project leads and "head of" teams.Continuously evaluate and adapt strategies to meet evolving Club goals.Team ManagementLead and manage a team of 4: classical communication & digital communication.Provide guidance and mentorship to develop team skills and creativity.Drive the creation of content aligned with strategy, ensuring its integration across all communication channels.Operational ManagementOversee day-to-day communication activities, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.Monitor and drive the implementation of communication around TheMerode experiences in daily operations, during programming events, and at key Experience moments.Weekly and monthly reporting to the GM and the CEO.Brand Image & Reputation ManagementEstablish and enforce brand guidelines for all communication materials.Safeguard and enhance the Club’s image through consistent and compelling communication, ensuring all messages align with brand positioning.Monitor online and offline channels to address any reputation issues promptly.Message Translation & Content DevelopmentTranslate complex information into clear, engaging, and impactful materials.Create content for multiple channels: website, social media, newsletters, promotional campaigns.Manage special projects (e.g., summer party, supported projects, etc.).Performance Analysis & ReportingTrack and analyze communication metrics, including media reach.Generate insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.Present findings regularly to leadership.Innovation & Opportunity IdentificationStay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and societal shifts.Identify emerging opportunities for innovative communication approaches.Develop partnerships and collaborations to expand the Club’s reach.Stakeholder Engagement / Top Management CollaborationCo-create and align all content production with the founder and CEO.Collaborate with internal departments (Programming, Community, Event, F&B, etc.) to identify daily communication opportunities aligned with the Club’s mission.Liaise with Profirst for coordinated communication efforts.Infuse creativity and inspiration into all teams, contributing to a coherent, inspiring communication ecosystem.On-Site PresenceBalance presence between Rixensart (close to founder) and Brussels Club site (1 day or 2 half days/week).Engage with members, observe activities, and participate in events.Profile & QualificationsStrong communication and leadership skills.Proven experience in brand strategy, activation, and communication plan implementation.International vision of private members clubs, art, lifestyle, and cultural trends.Holistic understanding of global cultural shifts to address the right audiences with relevant topics.Strong general knowledge, trend awareness, and ability to anticipate evolving interests.Passion for societal and cultural issues to ensure tone of voice matches the target audience.Connected, curious, and eager to share and enrich the Club.Ability to address both general member communication (programming, life of the Club) and networking communication (targeting specific subgroups, integrating CRM into the communication strategy).Strong analytical and synthesis skills, project management abilities, and organizational talent.Perfect French and English; trilingual is an advantage.Flexibility, adaptability, and genuine enthusiasm for the Club’s mission.If you meet these qualifications and are ready to play a decisive role in shaping the communication landscape of TheMerode Private Members Club, please apply on LinkedIn or via email: hr@profirst.com
