Novobiom is a fast-growing impact start-up with three ambitions:
* Environmental impact: Our DNA is rooted in leveraging the incredible potential of fungal and regenerative biotechnologies to remediate contamination and reduce the ecological footprint at scale, turning waste into wealth. Inspired by over 480 million years of natural R&D, we harness fungi to degrade complex molecules and produce green chemicals.
* Talent impact: We attract and develop individuals who can fully contribute to the environmental change we strive for.
* Organizational impact: We are on a mission to become a model organization where nature and people are at the core, serving both our environmental and talent missions efficiently and effectively.
Role overview
To support the growth of our Bioremediation unit, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled project director / senior project manager.
In this role, you will drive the delivery and scale-up of our innovative integrated bioremediation solutions.
Our bioremediation approaches combine the exploitation of metabolic digital twin bioremediation models with tailored fungal-based field remediation approaches - with a specific focus on the degradation of persistent and emerging contaminants in soils, industrial water and sludges.
Key responsibilities
Lead projects: Lead commercial and R&D bioremediation projects end-to-end, from initial client conversations, designing and planning projects (shaping plans, timelines, and budgets), to leading project teams (interdisciplinary teams with biology, chemistry, computing, engineering, and tech talents). Example activities include supervising field demonstrators, coordinating the delivery of our fungi-based solutions, monitoring and adjusting inputs and approach based on data from field and digital twin simulations.
Guide ongoing developments of our capabilities: Collaborate with our capability units to ensure we develop distinctive capabilities focused on best addressing the current and rapidly evolving needs of bioremediation clients.
* Collaborate with the fungal strains collection and production team to enable the efficient scale up of our bioremediation projects. This includes prioritizing capabilities to expand the scope of bioremediation to the treatment of complex contaminants, such as TPH, HAP or PFAS.
* Collaborate with the genomics and modelisation department to prioritize digital twin objectives and outputs, feed and integrate Machine-Learning soil bioremediation models.
Shape Novobiom Bioremediation Unit strategy and growth:
* Participate in defining and implementing a solid and ambitious strategy to develop our work and impact with clients and partners across the remediation ecosystem.
* Support the build of a multidisciplinary technical team, fostering collaboration and innovation, and guiding junior colleagues in their professional development.
Qualifications

Professional Experience:
* Senior professional experience in the environmental consulting/engineering industry. Must-have experience includes hands-on field experience with soil remediation, operating and maintaining remediation systems, designing in-situ, and ex-situ remediation systems. Experience with bioremediation will also be strongly valued.
* Strong project management skills and experience. This is core to the responsibilities of the role. You have a solid track record of managing technical projects end-to-end and leading teams through delivery, anticipating and resolving potential challenges.
Passion for the mission: If you are the ideal candidate, your motivation should stem from the urgent need to restore our planet. Your role goes beyond a job; it is a commitment to be a part of a team that builds and implements the best solutions for a sustainable future.
Entrepreneurial spirit: Familiarity with startup culture and ability to thrive in a dynamic, often ambiguous environment. Our processes are still being built — and that is part of the fun. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, figuring things out as you go, taking ownership for inventing, solidifying, and scaling up solutions, you will feel right at home here. This role requires the ability to move forward even when not all the pieces are in place. We are looking for someone who can focus on what matters most, with a collaborative, positive and caring mindset. This is particularly key as this is a leadership role.
