Body Engineering Division is responsible for the Design and Development of predominantly Upper Body components on the majority of new Toyota vehicles manufactured and sold in Europe. This includes key areas such as body shell & closures, exterior components and glazing, lamps, interior components and trim, the IP, seats & seat belts, functional body parts, and underbody shell components. The Advanced Body Development Team is a situated within the Body Engineering Division, and focuses on research and pre-development into exciting new areas of technology, applicable to these vehicle body components.
Your project
“Carbon neutral and circular economy technologies for vehicle body parts design, and their possible applications on lightweight, user-centric, mobility vehicles”
Currently the Advanced Body Development Team has a project which focuses on the sustainability enhancement of Toyota vehicle designs. This activity has components related to the study of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), the usage of recycled materials (circular economy), and the investigation of components which utilise natural materials such as bio-plastics and natural fibres including their design and performance.
1. Track recycled materials usage in vehicle projects
2. Develop tools to drive circularity mindset in parts design
3. Research new technologies with recycling and redesign in mind
