Job Description
The firm is establishing a new SFC‑licensed asset management platform and is seeking an experienced Responsible Officer (RO) for Type 1 and Type 9 to lead the build‑out, daily operation, and future scaling of the Hong Kong business.
The RO's primary mission is to ensure that the asset management platform runs smoothly, efficiently, and end‑to‑end, covering fund subscription/redemption, product launch processes, capital flows, trading/operations integration, and compliance workflow execution. Over time, this role will also support the firm's goal of growing offshore capital and enhancing the overall client experience.
This role is ideal for someone who is execution‑driven, has true buy‑side operational experience, and is capable of taking a platform from 0→1 and then 1→N.Key Responsibilities
Platform Build‑Out (0→1)
Lead the initial setup and ongoing optimisation of the Hong Kong licensed platform.
Build scalable workflows covering fund subscription/redemption, investor onboarding, custody/broker interactions, capital movement, and middle‑office processes.
Establish operational SOPs that integrate investment, trading, compliance, and risk functions.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
Serve as RO for Type 1 & 9 regulated activities with the SFC.
Maintain a sound compliance framework, internal controls, risk management processes, and reporting standards.
Manage regulatory communication and ensure readiness for inspections, licensing updates, and audits.
Investment & Product Operations
Work closely with portfolio managers and traders to ensure seamless execution and operational support.
Oversee product launch workflows, including documentation, service provider coordination, and operational readiness.
Monitor cash flows, reconciliations, and daily operational risk items.
Investor Experience & IR Coordination
Ensure a frictionless end‑to‑end investor journey, including onboarding, reporting, and communications.
Provide IR support where relevant; IR capability is a plus but not mandatory.
Collaborate with senior leaders on AUM growth initiatives involving offshore capital.
Business & Platform Scalability
Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve speed, efficiency, and reliability.
Drive continuous improvements as the firm scales product offerings and investor base.
Build a platform that maintains institutional‑grade standards as AUM grows.
The Successful Applicant
Mandatory
SFC Responsible Officer licence (Type 1 & Type 9) - or eligibility for approval.
Buy‑side background in public/secondary markets (non‑negotiable).
Proven track record managing or operating a real, functioning asset management platform.
0→1 platform build or early‑stage setup experience.
Experience with fund operations including subscriptions/redemptions, custody processes, trading workflows, and compliance integration.
Demonstrated ability to make operations run fast, run smooth, and work in real practice.
Preferred
Experience coordinating with offshore or international investors (deep Western exposure not required).
IR or external communication ability is a plus.
Some sell‑side candidates with genuine platform‑building exposure may be considered, but most pure sell‑side profiles will not fit.
