Job Description
Embedded Software Engineer – The role is part of national and international railway projects and involves the full development cycle of embedded software for traction converters, including design, testing, and integration of Command‑Control software per EN 50128, and collaboration with Traction Control and Validation teams.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop application software for traction and auxiliary converters.
* Draft software requirements from functional requirement specifications.
* Perform integration, simulation, and testing of embedded software.
* Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and EN 50128 processes.
* Participate in design reviews and software certification audits.
* Provide support to validation, commissioning, and traction/auxiliary control teams.
* Apply Environment, Health, and Safety regulations.
* Coordinate software development activities and manage technical interfaces with subcontractors.
* Monitor and ensure project delivery per QCD objectives.
* Manage software configuration and change requests throughout the development cycle.
* If responsible for workload management: lead a software team (1–5 people), organize and monitor activities per project planning, report to the Traction Project Engineering Manager and Software Team Leader, manage subcontractor activities.
Qualifications
* Engineering degree in Industrial Computing, Embedded Systems, or Automation (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years of experience in real‑time software development.
* Strong knowledge of embedded systems and IDEs using CEI 61131 languages (C++, ControlBuild, Matlab/Simulink).
* Basic knowledge of configuration management and requirement traceability principles.
* Good understanding of control systems and power electronics.
* Knowledge of electronics boards (architecture and basic software) is a plus.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken).
* Personal skills: autonomous, analytical mindset, team player, strong communication.
Working Environment
Work closely with traction engineering teams (Control, Validation, RAMS), interface with manufacturing sites and occasionally with final railway operators. Career evolution opportunities towards technical coordination or project leadership roles.
