Purpose:
The Senior Director MSAT Strategic Operations & Packaging (SO&P) sits on the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) Leadership Team. MSAT’s mission is to provide technical leadership for the introduction and lifecycle management of our product portfolio, while creating value through innovative responses to customer and business requirements.
The Senior Director leads the Strategic Operations & Packaging group within MSAT and is accountable for supporting MSAT teams and the greater MTO by enabling the successful leadership and management of both the business and technical processes as well as Packaging Engineering for all internal and external sites.
Key Responsibilities
Ideate, shape, drive and optimize business and technical processes with associated tools essential to strategy execution.
Ensure robust process governance, providing a framework for accountability, adherence, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align with organizational goals and enhance process efficacy.
Act as a change agent, conveying an aspirational vision and strategy for MSAT and implementing new ways of working embraced by all in MSAT.
Lead the SO&P team in developing and deploying capabilities and processes that make MSAT more efficient, reliable and cost‑effective.
Drive a culture of agility, innovation, technical excellence, business acumen and harmonized ways of working across MSAT.
Manage performance, progress, challenges and achievements to stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
Identify risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
Integrate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo into team objectives and decision‑making processes.
Key SO&P Areas
Business Management:
Identify and centralize work & services across MSAT, optimize and standardize, automate or outsource to free up time for scientists and engineers; drive strategic workforce planning and training.
Strategy & Performance:
Drive strategy development and execution; enable performance management; manage project portfolio and resources.
Technical Know‑How:
Drive continuous improvement and harmonized execution across core technical processes; deliver governance for communities of practice and knowledge management.
Packaging Engineering:
Provide secondary and tertiary packaging material design, equipment & transportation support for new launches, technical transfers and lifecycle management activities.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's/University degree required; MSC/MBA preferred.
12‑15 years of related experience, including 5‑10 years in a technical / manufacturing or support environment.
Demonstrated senior‑level management of teams across geographic regions.
Strong business acumen, results orientation, finance/budget understanding.
Comprehensive knowledge of end‑to‑end supply chain.
Ability to develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for a large, diverse team.
Experience building and maintaining a diverse leadership team and inclusive culture.
Experience working with external partners and leveraging best practices.
Influence peers and leaders at higher levels within the organization.
Experience building strategic alliances with partners.
Strong change leadership and aptitude as a change agent.
Other Requirements
Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Ability to work internationally across various time zones.
May require up to 20% domestic and/or international travel.
Requires the ability, through our flexible work policy, to work on‑site a minimum of three days each week, with the option of two remote workdays.
