Senior Flight Controls Engineer – BBST, Brazil
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Flight Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Flight Control Engineering team in Brazil. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, testing, and certifying flight control laws for large commercial aircraft, and supporting production and fleet operations.
Responsibilities
* Plan and execute system‑ and component‑level validation activities, including linear analyses for performance and robustness (rigid‑body and flexible modes) and nonlinear testing across multiple integration levels (software‑in‑the‑loop, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, iron bird, and pilot‑in‑the‑loop simulators). Develop test plans, perform real‑time monitoring, post‑test analysis, report writing, and mitigate test failures.
* Develop system and subsystem architecture alternatives for primary flight control laws to meet requirements and objectives. Analyze and compare alternatives (trade study), define and execute system simulations and development test programs, verify flight control requirements through simulation and analytical methods, and translate airplane‑level requirements into system‑ and functional‑level requirements with efficient validation methods.
* Analyze and resolve rejections and ground/flight test squawks; review ground/flight test data for design validation and certification compliance; investigate and resolve problem reports in a timely manner.
* Participate in certification activities, including creation of certification artifacts such as system safety analyses, FMEA, fault trees, and demonstrate regulatory traceability. Resolve compliance issues and regulatory conflicts during system, component, and detail certification efforts.
* Support production efforts by resolving prototype and first‑build problems at Boeing and supplier manufacturing facilities, ensuring readiness for production start‑up milestones (power‑on, system gauntlet, system functional test, ground test, first flight).
* Coordinate cross‑functionally within and outside Boeing with manufacturing, avionics, crew‑ops, airplane safety, aerodynamics, supply chain management, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies.
Basic Qualifications
* Right to work in Brazil.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
* Registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (CREA).
* Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* In-depth experience with modeling and control systems.
* In-depth experience with system monitoring design and signal input processing.
* Programming experience in Python or C++.
* In-depth experience with the certification process for aeronautical products.
* Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink modeling.
* Knowledge of flight mechanics.
* Experience with requirement management tools (IBM Rational DOORS).
* Experience with version control and storage (Git/SVN or equivalent).
