Meitner Energy’s mission is to transform the global energy landscape by delivering clean, sustainable, and scalable nuclear solutions. We are committed to redefining how the world powers business and industry in order to lead the transition to a cleaner future.
At the heart of our work is the ACR300 — a 300 MWe Gen III+ small modular reactor (SMR) engineered for grid-scale impact from day one. Built on proven light water technology with targeted, execution-driven innovation, the ACaR300 delivers high-utilization baseload performance independent of weather or storage constraints. It is the only SMR designed to be both scalable and cost-effective, with the smallest physical construction burden per megawatt among grid-scale SMRs.
Our world-class team is based in Argentina, the United States, and the United Kingdom, working together toward a single goal: electrification at scale, beginning in 2030.
The Opportunity
Meitner is hiring an Expert and Group Leader for the Layout & Civil Works Department to lead nuclear plant layout and civil/structural engineering for the ACR300. You’ll own conceptual through detailed arrangement and pipe routing of the Nuclear Island, Balance‑of‑Plant, and site infrastructure — plus the design of reinforced‑concrete and steel structures, foundations, embedded plates, and bunkered walls.
As Group Leader, you’ll chair design reviews, manage interfaces across systems engineering, I&C, electrical, and safety analysis, and lead 3‑D/BIM coordination for clash‑free integration.
What You'll Do
Layout & Civil / Structural Design
* Lead conceptual, preliminary, and detailed arrangement and pipe routing of the Nuclear Island, Balance‑of‑Plant, and site infrastructure
* Design reinforced‑concrete and steel structures, foundations, embedded plates, and bunkered walls per ASCE 4, RCC‑G, Eurocode 8, or equivalent nuclear codes
* Develop seismic isolation joints, aircraft‑impact barriers, fire/radiological zoning, and heavy‑lift logistics routes
3‑D / BIM Coordination & Interdisciplinary Leadership
* Lead 3‑D/BIM coordination using AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent for clash‑free integration of civil works with mechanical, piping, and electrical
* Chair design reviews, manage interfaces across disciplines, and align outputs with safety, constructability, maintainability, and cost objectives
Regulatory Engagement & Team Leadership
* Prepare licensing packages for seismic qualification, aircraft‑impact assessment, and external‑hazard analyses
* Apply IAEA, US NRC regulatory requirements, WENRA, and local standards
* Lead and mentor junior engineers as Group Leader, interfacing closely with systems engineering, I&C, electrical, and safety analysis teams
What We Are Looking For
In‑House Civil‑Layout Leadership
* 15+ years of in‑house experience leading civil‑layout design within multidisciplinary engineering teams at nuclear vendors, EPCs, or plant design organizations
Codes & BIM Tool Fluency
* Proficient with ASCE 4, RCC‑G, Eurocode 8, or equivalent nuclear codes
* Proficient with AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent
Interdisciplinary Leadership
* Demonstrated ability to chair design reviews, manage interfaces, and align outputs with safety, constructability, maintainability, and cost objectives
Qualifications
* University degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Architecture
* 15+ years of experience in nuclear power‑plant layout and civil/structural design
* Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed arrangement and pipe routing of Nuclear Island, Balance‑of‑Plant, and site infrastructure
* Design of reinforced‑concrete and steel structures, foundations, embedded plates, and bunkered walls per ASCE 4, RCC‑G, Eurocode 8, or equivalent nuclear codes
* Development of seismic isolation joints, aircraft‑impact barriers, fire/radiological zoning, and heavy‑lift logistics routes
* Proficiency in 3‑D/BIM tools (AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent) for clash‑free integration with mechanical, piping, and electrical
* Demonstrated chairing of design reviews and management of cross‑discipline interfaces
* Familiarity with licensing packages for seismic qualification, aircraft‑impact assessment, and external‑hazard analyses; working knowledge of IAEA, US NRC, WENRA, and local standards
* Experience with modular construction (steel or concrete modules)
* Experience with advanced concrete technologies (UHPC, 3‑D printed formwork)
* Digital delivery workflows (BIM Level 3 / ISO 19650)
Why Join Meitner Energy
Mission That Matters.
You’ll help bring clean, scalable nuclear power online — not as a future promise, but as an executable plan starting in 2030. The work you do here directly accelerates the global energy transition.
Real Ownership.
Meitner is small enough that your decisions visibly shape the company — and ambitious enough that those decisions matter. We hire people who want to own outcomes, not just tasks.
World‑Class Team Across Three Continents.
Work alongside engineers, operators, and builders in Argentina, the US, and the UK who bring deep nuclear, industrial, and execution experience.
Execution Over Hype.
The ACR300 is built on proven light water technology with targeted innovation — because deploying clean power at scale is an execution problem, not a science experiment. We value rigor, judgment, and follow‑through.
