Creative Matters is a Canadian bespoke rug design studio based in Toronto, specializing in the creation of exceptional custom-made rugs, handcrafted using traditional artisanal techniques. We collaborate with architects and interior designers on high-end residential, contract, and office projects.
We are looking for a Senior / Experienced Designer (freelance), +/- 4 days per week, to join our Brussels team.
Responsibilities:
● Creation of patterns for custom projects and collections.
● Interpretation and adaptation of designs according to various rug-making techniques (hand-knotting, weaving, tufting, ...), from concept through to final approval.
● Custom adaptations according to client requests (color palettes, technical requirements, ...).
● Client management and consulting (architects and interior designers) on all conceptual, technical, and budgetary aspects of the project.
● Production follow-up with the various manufacturers.
● Collaboration with the textile design team on ongoing projects.
● Supervision of rug installations and coordination with installers before and during installation, ensuring the proper execution of the project.
● Possible travel within Europe and to Canada.
Profile:
● BA or Master’s degree in Textile Design.
● Knowledge of weaving and rug-making techniques.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience as a designer or colorist in textile design.
● Proficiency in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
● Fluency in English and French is mandatory. The knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
● Autonomous, solution-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
● Excellent sense of design and composition, with a strong sense of colour.
● Meticulous, rigorous, and attentive to detail.
● Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, manufacturers, and different teams.
● Experience in the luxury and interior design sector is a plus.
