Mission:
Our partner plays a central role in realizing a successful energy transition for a sustainable world. In order to perform core tasks as development and operation of the high voltage network, Asset & System Data team manages and develops system model of the network to allow for advanced control, computation and analysis that drive decision-making.
As real-time control engineer, you will be active in the team responsible for the connection of new production unit to the electrical grid in Belgium. You will ensure that new production units are correctly modeled in the system model and that they can communicate in real-time with the EMS.
The assignment offers valuable experience with advanced grid calculation tools, data management systems, and daily interaction with different stakeholders: operational teams (RCC and NCC) as well as external customers.
Responsabilities:
* You develop expertise in the PowerFactory tool, the EMS tool, and other applications related to your areas of specialization. You monitor the evolution of internal and external concepts and processes related to the company's conformity procedures for new units.
* In close collaboration with various internal teams and external partners, you follow and help coordinate the planning and implementation of new production units and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), ensuring their accurate representation in key system tools, primarily EMS, with relevant links to PowerFactory. You manage and document the operational aspects associated with these integrations prior to their commissioning.
* You are responsible for overseeing the real-time information exchange between clients and the company, which may involve managing secure communications such as private VPN connections, and addressing client questions related to the transmission of real-time signals. You plan and execute compliance tests in collaboration with internal team members and assigned contacts from the client’s side, ensuring all testing and communication processes are effectively carried out.
* You actively monitor the correct application of real-time signal exchange with the clients, validating that these are in line with the company requirements. You also contribute to the handling and updating of model data for new units in system tools, ensuring data quality, consistency, and smooth integration with broader data landscape.
* You assist dispatching and your team with technical support for the activation of the flexibility on the new units.
* As part of your role, you help design and document data flows and processes, implement necessary improvements or standardizations, and support related working groups.
Profile:
* Master’s degree in a technical field (preferably telecommunications, energy, electrical engineering, or electromechanics).
* Basic understanding of high-voltage network modeling, especially for generation and storage assets, and familiarity with component properties and their roles in the electrical system.
* Strong team player with initiative, structured work habits, and clear communication skills—especially in client interactions.
* Flexible and customer-oriented mindset.
* Detail-oriented, with the ability to clearly articulate and defend technical positions to clients.
* Capable of working with highly critical systems, always exercising caution and thoughtful decision-making.
* Fluent in English and either Dutch or French, with a willingness to learn the other language.
