Secure Backend Developer - European Commission
The mission is to protect human health, animal welfare, and food safety within Europe. This position involves working closely with policy units to develop, maintain, and optimize core applications and systems that directly support health, food safety, and regulatory initiatives across the continent.
In this role, you will play a key part in creating secure, scalable, and high-performing back-end applications that meet the mission's objectives. Your tasks include developing back-end web applications, implementing core business logic, designing and optimizing applications for maximum speed and scalability, designing and developing APIs for seamless integration with other systems, and ensuring compliance and confidentiality through proper security measures.
Your skills and experience should include a proven background of 7+ years in back-end development with Java (JDK8 or later) and JEE (version 7 or later), including XML and SOAP-based web services (e.g., JAX-WS). Strong proficiency in Oracle RDBM for database management is also required. At least 5 years of experience with Git or SVN for version control and collaboration tools, particularly the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo), is expected. Additionally, thorough understanding of the web development cycle, programming techniques, and optimization methods is essential. Expertise in implementing security and data protection for high-compliance environments is necessary.
