Your Mission

As a System Designer – Autonomous Train Development, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the next-generation Autonomous Train Operation (ATO) system. You will define requirements, develop system architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create safe, efficient, and reliable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Architecture

1. Analyze customer and project requirements to define ATO system specifications.
2. Identify technical risks and propose innovative solutions.
3. Develop formal system models using UML, SysML, SADT methodologies.
4. Define functional and constructional architectures for autonomous train systems.

System Integration & Validation

5. Collaborate with RAM, Safety, Cybersecurity, Software, and Hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.
6. Define system elements and interfaces to guarantee compatibility across all subsystems.
7. Conduct simulations and tests to validate system performance and reliability.

Research & Innovation

8. Work on cutting-edge AI and automation algorithms for energy-efficient driving and obstacle detection.
9. Contribute to the continuous evolution of ATO technology, supporting Alstom’s innovation roadmap.
10. Stay updated on railway signaling technologies such as ERTMS and CBTC.

Project Execution & Stakeholder Collaboration

11. Support commercial and R&D projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
12. Act as a technical interface for operators, suppliers, and auditors.
13. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and system reports.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

14. Engineering degree (Master) in Aerospace, Electronics, Automation, Robotics, or Computer Science.
15. Experience in system design & architecture, ideally in safety-critical industries (rail, aerospace, automotive).
16. Proficiency in system modeling tools (UML, SysML, SADT) and architecture frameworks (Capella, PTC IM).

Key Skills & Technologies

17. Experience in V-cycle & Agile development methodologies.
18. Knowledge of railway signaling systems (ETCS, CBTC) is a plus.
19. Understanding of requirement management & traceability.
20. Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink for control system design.
21. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work in a highly technical environment.

Nice-to-Have:

22. Background in AI, machine learning, or computer vision for railway applications.
23. Experience with safety-critical software development (EN 50128, ISO 26262).
24. Interest in automation, digital twins, and smart mobility solutions.
