📌 The Role: Senior Accountant
📍 Location: Antwerp (central finance team)
🧭 Reporting to: Accounting Manager
🤝 Collaboration with: Finance team, Controllers, Operations, External Auditors
As Senior Accountant, you will act as the right hand of the Accounting Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities.
This is not a pure team lead role, nor a purely transactional position.
It is a senior, stabilizing role for someone who enjoys combining hands-on accounting with thinking along, structuring processes, and supporting the team with experience and insight.
⚡ What You’ll Be Doing
Operational & Technical Responsibilities
* Handle operational accounting tasks, including invoice processing.
* Contribute to month-end and year-end closings across several entities.
* Support VAT filings, corporate tax preparation, and statutory reporting.
* Prepare and support external audits, acting as a key point of contact.
* Take responsibility for A–Z accounting for smaller entities within the group.
* Work with Business Central (Navision) and reporting tools such as Power BI (user level).
Team Support & Process Improvement
* Act as a senior reference point within a team of experienced AP accountants.
* Support the Accounting Manager in identifying anomalies, improving workflows, and ensuring continuity.
* Bring stability, structure, and professional judgement to a diverse finance team.
* Actively contribute ideas to optimize procedures, improve closing routines, and streamline processes.
* Take initiative where needed, without formal people management responsibility.
🧬 Who We’re Looking For
You are a hands-on Senior Accountant who enjoys working in a larger, operational organization.
You feel comfortable being the “second line”, combining accountability with collaboration, and you like working close to both numbers and people.
🔑 You’ll Likely Bring
* 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or a similar role.
* Strong knowledge of standard accounting procedures.
* Experience in operational, multi-entity environments.
* Previous exposure to VAT, corporate tax, closing activities, and audits.
* Fluency in Dutch; working knowledge of French is a strong plus.
* Experience with Navision / Business Central is an asset.
* A structured, discreet, and trustworthy approach to financial information.
