In search for a Production Lead USV (Drones) – Business Unit USV in Ostend
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Production Supervisor to lead the manufacturing, procurement, and maintenance operations of our Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) product line. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of production and post-sales support, manage supplier relationships, lead a team of technicians, and ensure efficient, high-quality, and timely delivery of USV systems.
A strong understanding of electronics and how integrated systems work is essential for this role, given the technical complexity of USVs and their subsystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Warehouse Management
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee the complete production lifecycle of USVs
* Monitor production progress, track KPIs, and adjust plans to ensure on-time delivery
* Organize and optimize the production facility layout for maximum efficiency
* Implement continuous improvement practices in workflow, safety, and cost control
Technical Oversight
* Apply knowledge of electronics, wiring, systems integration, and general mechanical/electrical assemblies in overseeing production and testing
* Assist in resolving technical issues on the shop floor and during unit commissioning
* Work closely with engineering teams to implement product improvements or updates
Procurement & Supplier Management
* Lead negotiations and manage contracts with suppliers of key components and materials
* Ensure timely procurement and follow up on delivery schedules and quality control
* Build and maintain strong, cost-effective supplier relationships
Team Leadership
* Lead, train, and motivate a team of technicians and production staff
* Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and productivity
* Foster a collaborative, accountable, and technically capable work environment
Maintenance & Customer Support
* Oversee maintenance plans and service interventions for sold and deployed USV units
* Coordinate repair work, upgrades, and field servicing in collaboration with support teams
* Maintain documentation and records of unit performance and service history
What do we expect from you?
* Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or similar field)
* 3+ years in production or operations management, preferably in maritime, defense, or robotics industries
* Solid understanding of electronics, system integration, and how complex systems function
* Strong background in supplier negotiation, procurement, and production planning
* Proven leadership skills and team management experience
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and lean manufacturing principles is a plus
