Freelance Accountant – Antwerp (Client Assignment)
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Accountant to support a client based in Antwerp. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with management and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day accounting operations
* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records
* Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
* Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
* Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with Belgian accounting regulations
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
* Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and payroll providers
* Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights to management
* Improve accounting processes and internal controls where needed
Requirements
* Proven experience as an Accountant or Freelance Accountant
* Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting and VAT regulations
* Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
* Excellent Excel skills
* Strong analytical and organizational abilities
* Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
* Fluent in English; Dutch and/or French is a plus
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
