By ensuring the continuous operation of machines essential to our activities, Amazon's RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) team plays a fundamental role in our operations. As an RME Technician, you will maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while adhering to health and safety best practices. You will contribute to keeping your colleagues safe and preventing machine downtime. Our RME Technicians improve the availability and quality of our equipment and work to optimise our operational environment.

Key job responsibilities
Ensure Safety and Compliance
- Promote health and safety best practices across all maintenance activities, ensuring full compliance with standards and regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for maintenance work

Deliver Excellence in Preventive Maintenance
- Execute comprehensive planned preventive maintenance programmes on diverse automated equipment: conveyors, robots, sorting and packaging systems
- Use Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track, schedule and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and external contractors to optimise maintenance procedures

Respond Quickly and Resolve Complex Issues
- Provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns with clear communication to operational teams
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems
- Use diagnostic tools and technical documentation to efficiently identify root causes

Master Automation Technologies
- Maintain and configure sophisticated automation systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and field networks
- Service and calibrate barcode scanners, print-and-apply systems and sorting equipment

Contribute to Continuous Improvement
- Analyse equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities
- Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives through equipment optimisation
- Share technical knowledge and mentor junior technicians

Working Hours:This role operates in a 24/7 environment requiring flexibility with variable schedules, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

About the team
Our RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) team ensures Amazon's equipment operates at peak performance. We are an analytical, technically skilled team that maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment across our global fulfilment network. From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing site maintenance and ensuring building compliance, we keep Amazon's operations running safely and efficiently.

Everything we do aims to reduce downtime so customers receive their orders on time. When better methodologies exist, we develop and introduce new processes and cuttingedge technologies, including Amazon Robotics. With numerous growth opportunities both within RME and across Amazon, this is where technical excellence meets real impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Education and experience: Bac Pro, BTS, BUT or equivalent (minimum Bac+2 / Associate Degree) in industrial maintenance, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, with experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance or a similar role for a minimum of two years
- Preventive maintenance and CMMS: Proven experience with planned preventive maintenance systems and proficiency in CMMS platforms
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics:
- Advanced troubleshooting skills on material handling equipment and automation systems, with proficiency in reading mechanical and electrical drawings
- Technical skills:Hands-on experience with conveyor systems, motor controllers, variable frequency drives and sensor technologies
- Operational skills: Knowledge of health and safety standards, strong organisational skills and excellent communication abilities
- Technological or vocational diploma (or international equivalent) in an engineering discipline or other engineering certification validated by a placement
- Previous experience as a qualified engineer
- Previous experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
- Full proficiency in the local language, both spoken and written

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Electrical certifications: Electrical qualifications with experience in electrical works and maintenance of motor controllers/drives
- Automation expertise: Experience with Siemens systems (PLCs), field networks, robotics and automated storage/retrieval systems
- Traceability technologies: Expertise in configuration and maintenance of barcode scanners and print-and-apply systems
- Maintenance 4.0 technology: Use and/or deployment of various technologies related to Maintenance 4.0
- Technical leadership: Experience supervising junior technicians with technical writing skills for documentation
- Project management: Experience in equipment installation project management and multilingual capabilities (an asset)
- Packaging machinery: Maintenance and commissioning of automatic packaging machines
