Are you an experienced hardware engineering expert ready to lead and define complex electronic system architectures? Our client is a high-tech engineering design organisation delivering cutting-edge hardware solutions across aerospace, industrial, imaging and embedded systems markets. They are seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to take technical ownership at the architectural level — setting the direction for hardware and system design and mentoring a team of engineers to deliver world-class products.
Lead hardware architecture definition and high-level system design for complex electronic products, ensuring robustness, performance, manufacturability and compliance.
Set design standards, best practices and verification strategies, and guide more junior engineers through schematic, PCB and subsystem design tasks.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (software, FPGA, mechanical, systems) to ensure seamless integration and performance across all layers of product architecture.
Establish and own design reviews, risk analyses and decisions impacting product viability and scalability.
Influence technology roadmaps, tool selection and methodology improvements to drive efficiency and innovation across the engineering group.
Degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Master’s or equivalent).
A track record of leading hardware architecture and design in complex engineering environments (typically 8+ years’ relevant experience).
Deep technical expertise across electronic system design, including power electronics, high-speed digital interfaces, signal integrity, and board-level partitioning.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills — able to support and develop less-experienced engineers and influence multidisciplinary teams.
Passion for innovation and solving challenging engineering problems with pragmatic, elegant solutions.
