PROJECT ENGINEER - WEST FLANDERS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We're currently recruiting for a Project Engineer for a vacancy in West Flanders. You will become part of a small team responsible for delivering and supporting a broad range of technical, infrastructural, and improvement projects across a complex production environment.
In this role, you will contribute to both the development and continuous improvement of industrial facilities and production support systems. You will be involved in shaping technical solutions from early concept through to execution, working closely with internal stakeholders such as production, maintenance, safety, and external contractors.
The work spans building infrastructure, utilities, energy systems, and production-related equipment, with a strong focus on ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support small to medium-sized engineering projects from initial definition through to implementation, including new installations, upgrades, and modifications of workshop equipment, building systems, utilities, and energy infrastructure within a production environment.
* Design, coordinate, and implement improvements and modifications to internal logistics and material handling systems, including conveyors, lifting and positioning devices, assembly platforms, automated guided vehicles, manipulators, and forklift-related solutions.
* Translate operational and production needs into practical engineering solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
* Monitor project budgets, control costs, and support decision-making to ensure delivery within agreed financial and technical constraints.
* Coordinate statutory inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations for material handling equipment and electrical installations (low- and high-voltage systems).
* Develop, update, and maintain technical drawings, layouts, and documentation for production, workshop, and office environments.
Candidate requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanics or Electrical Engineering (or a similar discipline)
* Strong proficiency in Dutch.
* Motivation to learn and apply new technologies, systems, and engineering practices.
* Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
* Creative, solution-oriented mindset with a practical approach.
* Good command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
* AutoCAD experience is considered an advantage.
* Hands-on mentality with an interest in industrial/production environments.
* Basic understanding of electrical systems is beneficial.
* Ability to quickly understand manufacturing processes and collaborate effectively to identify and implement improvements.
