Excelra is seeking an experienced RWE Data Product Owner to be embedded with a leading global immunology company as part of a strategic, multi-year data partnership. This is not a project role - it is a leadership position at the heart of building a greenfield Real World Evidence data product from the ground up, serving clinical scientists, global safety, and medical affairs functions across rare autoimmune disease indications.
The Product Owner will act as the primary interface between the client's data strategy and Excelra's delivery team, owning the product backlog, stakeholder relationships, and end-to-end delivery accountability for the RWE platform. The client operates in rare and severe autoimmune disease - indications where RWE data is fragmented, sourced through patient associations, and must be made sustainable across multiple downstream use cases including patient recruitment and clinical trial design
The role sits at the intersection of science, data, and delivery. You will work directly with senior stakeholders to translate complex clinical questions into a structured product roadmap and guide a multidisciplinary team of data architects, engineers, and scientists.
What you will be responsible for
* Defining and owning the roadmap for a new RWE data product supporting clinical development and evidence generation
* Translating scientific and clinical use cases into actionable product requirements
* Acting as the primary day-to-day interface between the client and delivery team
* Leading sprint planning, backlog prioritisation, and delivery governance
* Coordinating a growing cross-functional team as the platform scales
* Ensuring the product is designed for long-term sustainability and reuse across multiple indications and studies
What we are looking for
* Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a data, analytics, or digital health environment
* Solid understanding of Real World Evidence and patient-level healthcare data
* Ability to engage confidently with clinical, safety, and medical affairs stakeholders
* Strong delivery ownership and stakeholder management capability
* Experience working with pharmaceutical or biotech organisations
* Located in or able to reliably commute to Ghent, Belgium - or based elsewhere in the EU with willingness to travel to Ghent regularly
Highly desirable
* Background in rare disease, immunology, or specialty therapeutics
* Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake)
* Experience working with patient association data or registry data integration
* Knowledge of GDPR and EU patient data compliance frameworks
* Prior exposure to agile delivery in a life sciences data context
