In addition, the rolerequires working closely and cooperatively with ICMA’stwo key “horizontal” Teams of FinTech & Digitalisation(FTD) and Sustainable Finance (SF). These cross-cuttingthemes are becoming critical in market developmentand structural evolution and are ever more prominentin the focus and work of the three vertical pillars.The role’s responsibilities encompass driving effectiveregulatory advocacy, being the Brussels-based liaison forEuropean policymakers, including the EC, EP, EU PermReps,ESAs, NCAs, Finance Ministries, and the main Europebased international players working with and on behalf of ICMA’s member firms, with the objective of supportingthe development of an optimal regulatory design.04 Dober Partners Director, Market Practice and Regulatory Policy Team I ICMAWhat You’llDoResponsibilities of the role will include:– Create and maintain an engagement plan for policymakersto develop and maintain senior relationships with national,European and international financial and regulatory authorities.– Work closely with the Co-Heads, in particular theHead of Public Policy & Advocacy, to develop andexecute ICMA’s policy engagement strategy.– Collaborate closely and continuously with the MPRP teams (i.e.primary, secondary, repo & collateral, as well as colleagues insustainable finance and fintech and digitalisation) to support anICMA-wide policy approach, align and optimise memberinterests, acting as the Brussels-based liaison.– Capture policy developments in a forward-looking policy tracker,monitor and assess the impact of new international, European, ornational guidelines, rules and regulations on ICMA’s membersand, where these are crosscutting in nature, develop ICMA-widepositions encapsulating all relevant elements.– Act as principal liaison with ICMA’s public policy consultingfirm in Brussels to help drive the development of CMA’soverall advocacy priorities and deliverables.– Take the lead as the Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC) Secretaryin market practice and regulatory policy initiatives as they pertainto EU, UK and international policy developments relevant toICMA members; prepare meetings and supporting materials;participate in discussions and calls; prepare minutes.– Liaise proactively with ICMA RPC members betweenmeetings, keeping them advised – on a timely basis – of relevantnew developments; handling their queries; and coordinating withothers in the MPRP team to understandhow ICMA’s market practice committees are responding todevelopments and what their advocacy priorities are.– Draft short summaries of policy developments and specificregulatory files, establishing a compendium of key ICMA themesin the role of the RPC Secretary as the overarching committee.– Play a key role in the bi-weekly ICMA-wide meetings,drive the agenda by using this forum as an opportunityto drive forward the RPC key deliverables.– Contribute to ICMA’s Quarterly Report and the ICMAwebsite with thought leadership pieces.– Represent ICMA at events roundtables, design andfeature in podcasts and webinars with ICMA members incollaboration with the events department and the ICMApress department for external communications.– Assist the membership department in meetings with existing andprospective members to market ICMA’s services and assist ICMAmembers with deriving full benefits from their membership.– Support the ICMA training team with regard totraining materials related to the buy-side.– Cooperate with other trade associations where required.05 Dober Partners Director, Market Practice and Regulatory Policy Team I ICMAWhat You’llDo06 Dober Partners Director, Market Practice and Regulatory Policy Team I ICMAWhat You’llDoAbout You:– Relevant professional work experience of at least 8 years,having worked in government or regulatory affairs or ina role that has involved exposure to European regulatorypolicy work or within financial services institutions, TradeAssociations, Regulatory bodies, Finance Ministries (or similar);– Deep knowledge of how international capital markets workand how they are regulated is essential; understanding ofenvironmental, climate and social finance is a plus.– Practical experience in financial services with an affinity toregulation and policy may also be an advantage, especiallyif in the area of International Debt Capital Markets.– Research, analytical and advocacy skills and– Excellent English written and verbal communication skills andan ability to communicate concisely and clearly to differentaudiences; excellent drafting skills to produce thoughtarticles and podcast interviews with members.– Fluency in at least one additional European language isessential and, ideally, international work experience.– Collaborative working approach with strong interpersonalskills and the ability to work with senior professionals(within member firms) and colleagues as a member ofthe Market Practice and Regulatory Policy team.– A university degree is required, and a master’s degreeis preferred, ideally in the area of international orEU policy, legal, finance or economics.– You value inclusivity, being supportive and respectful ofothers.– You are a self-starter and team player who operateswith integrity, trust and professionalismThe successful candidate will work in an international environment,closely with ICMA members, building their skills and knowledgeof the association and the industry.
