About the role
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, the Operational Maintenance Manager collaborates constructively with the other line managers in week and weekend regimes, as with other departments in the Wieze organisation (SHE, QA, operations, planning, transport, CI, …) and within Barry Callebaut (GBS, IM,…)
Together with your team, you are responsible for achieving the predefined objectives for safety, production, quality, maintenance, engineering & environment.
The Team actively supports production and local engineering projects.
The Team consists of Teamleaders Repair & Inspections, Teamleaders Planned Electrical Maintenance, Teamleaders Planned Mechanical Maintenance and a Teamleader Utilities. The team can be supplemented with a number of people from permanent subcontractors and a number of external specialised companies (automation, electricity, cleaning, etc.)
Your mission is to manage maintenance processes, ensure that the machinery functions optimally and that maintenance processes are aligned with the company's objectives.
Key responsibilities include
1. Ensuring that the team lives up to the three basic pillars: safety, quality and productivity
2. Personnel management of the maintenance department (planning, competence management, etc.)
3. Ensuring the correct training of new and existing employees
4. Identifying the training needs of the department and taking necessary training initiatives
5. Leading and participating in meetings
6. Ensuring the machines operate in accordance with regulations, that necessary periodic regulatory checks are carried out and that conventional action plans are implemented safely.
7. Reporting, setting up and planning KPIs
8. Ensuring that the efficiency of existing installations is improved (Lean, TPM, etc.) and participating in the design of new installations.
9. Supervising interventions by external contractors.
10. Keeping technical documentation up to date.
11. Participation in the management of spare parts
12. Managing company resources (personnel, budget, technical resources, producers, etc…)
13. Reporting on the operational maintenance Budget (in FY 24/25 is 10.2M€ excl. salaries)
14. Ensuring that quality standards are adhered to
15. Ensuring technical products and equipment, in collaboration with suppliers and with support from the purchasing department.
About you
16. You have a Master Degree in a technical field
17. You speak and write fluent Dutch and English
18. You bring 5 years of experience in a technical role
19. You have experience managing team leaders and technicians during the day and shift system
20. You have experience carrying out emergency interventions
21. You have experience carrying out preventive and curative maintenance tasks
22. You lead a BC team supplemented with a number of people from permanent subcontractors and a number of external specialised companies (automation, electricity, cleaning, etc.)
23. You have good technical insight
24. You are able to manage crisis situations
25. You have good analytical skills, which you’re able to combine with a solution- and result driven approach
26. Above all you are a real people manager who can motivate and guide his team towards the preferred results
27. You maintain good contacts with the work floor, team builder, easily approachable
28. You are typically a flexible person, eager to learn, with good communication and interpersonal skills
29. You are capable of convincing people to change and improve their ways of working
30. You can lead your team through changes in the organisation
31. You are a good communicator, you work smoothly with all actors (own team, technicians, management, production, QSE, logistics, third parties, ...)
32. You are close to the work floor, pragmatic, hands-on
33. You are willing to provide advice and assistance to the team - outside hours and on weekends
34. You are able to provide the necessary support in the event of emergencies within the maintenance area
35. You have a habit for spotting improvements and can empower people to join you in this effort
36. You are open for ideas and can drive people to work on them
