Your role includes.
Your assignment? Building upon your passion for generative AI and its potential to help our newsrooms.
* You translate business needs into concrete GenAI use cases and technical requirements
* After building and tweaking LLM-based solutions you evaluate the LLM output quality with a focus on coherence, factuality, and consistency
* You apply techniques such as prompt engineering, few-shot learning, and embedding-based retrieval
* You work with embedding and semantic search systems
* To evaluate model performance you use appropriate metrics and communicate your findings clearly to our non-technical stakeholders
* You make sure AI solutions are robust and can be put into production
* You collaborate closely with editorial and product teams to ensure alignment with business goals

In the set-up of our small team (with large impact though!) we recommend several years of experience as a data scientist or machine learning engineer. This way, you have hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI applications. You are proficient in Python and are familiar with tools like Databricks, MLFlow, and LLMOps practices. Your potential experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry or Google Vertex AI is a plus. Fluency in Dutch is crucial for this position, because our projects for our newsrooms are mainly Dutch-oriented.
During this assignment of 6 months, we expect you to work from our Antwerp office two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday). Our hybrid policy allows you to work from home the other days of the week.
What's about to become your second home?
You will be working for TPS, Mediahuis' International IT & data department. You will join the GenAI team, which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of data engineers, data scientists and developers. The team builds generative AI solutions for the newsrooms, B2B and B2C departments of the Mediahuis group; think of generated headlines suggestions or an internal RAG for journalists.
