Data Governance Specialist Location: Brussels Freelance Contract Duration: 15/03/2026 - 31/12/2026 Industry: Financial Services / Banking The Role You will coordinate the Data Governance stream to define and deploy data product frameworks across the organisation. This position reports to the Data Governance experts and involves high-level collaboration with the CDO and senior management to align business requirements with regulatory standards. Responsibilities Standardisation: Establish enterprise standards for data quality, semantics, and modelling, specifically applied to data products. Implementation: Translate governance standards into functional policies and procedures, ensuring they remain pragmatic and feasible. Modern Architecture: Orchestrate the rollout of guidelines centred on Data Mesh principles (contracts, specifications, and metadata harvesting). Escalation & Support: Act as the primary point of contact for issues regarding data integrity, interoperability, and compliance. Stakeholder Management: Align Business and IT objectives to ensure data products deliver measurable value. Requirements Minimum of 3 years in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Analytics. Strong understanding of Data Mesh principles and Enterprise Data Management tools. Degree in IT Engineering or Computer Science. Professional proficiency in English. Dutch and/or French are considered an advantage. Prior experience in the Financial Sector is preferred.
