We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to provide highly visible, customer-facing technical support and manage an on-site service contract in a leading semiconductor R&D environment.
This is a critical, hands-on role acting as the primary technical contact on site in Leuven, Belgium - Long-term contract position!
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of platforms
* Troubleshoot first-of-a-kind, unique chamber configurations
* Utilise remote support from global business unit peers to resolve complex technical issues
* Act as the first point of contact for hardware and process teams
* Build strong working relationships internally and externally, collaborating effectively across diverse teams
* Support preventive maintenance programs when required
* Plan and execute system modification programs
* Instruct customer personnel on system operation and maintenance
* Track hours spent on non-warranty chambers to ensure compliance with the service contract
* Interpret customer needs and clarify responsibility for issue resolution
* Maintain daily communication to ensure customer satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical field (Semiconductor or Engineering industry) and/or a relevant higher education degree (technical college or university)
* Strong technical proficiency with advanced plasma etch platforms
* Very good understanding of industry standards and best practices for service activities
* Ability to independently manage day-to-day scope of work while coordinating with the local Service Section Manager
* Strong troubleshooting, negotiation, and decision-making skills
* High focus on safety, quality, and compliance standards
* Fluency in English, both written and spoken
