Job Summary
The Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of aviation safety standards throughout the organisation. Their primary duties encompass the verification of compliance with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements, the execution of routine safety inspections, and the comprehensive investigation of incidents.
Through the systematic monitoring of adherence to safety protocols and the provision of support during audit processes, the Safety Assistant makes a significant contribution to the establishment and preservation of a secure working environment, whilst facilitating the proactive identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards.
Job Responsibilities
* Retrieve CCTV footage upon explicit request
* Conduct safety checks as prescribed by the BCAA
* Participate in incident investigations, prepare investigation reports, and develop corrective actions in collaboration with operational management
* Follow up and implement safety procedures
* Monitor and address employees regarding safety practices
* Investigate aviation safety incidents
* Provide support during (safety) audits
* Assist in reporting incidents to the relevant authorities
* Take over tasks in the absence of QHSE
* Follows clearly prescribed internal and external safety rules (SOP/LOP)
* The position is primarily assigned to one station in Belgium, but the employee is required to work at other stations when necessary
* Ensure compliance with safety rules
* Investigate and provide administrative follow-up on incidents
* Formal contact with external parties to ensure the execution and adherence to safety rules
* Contact with all relevant internal parties to ensure the application of safety rules
* Contact with BCAA regarding deviations, incidents, questions, and reports
* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and apply internal environmental policies and procedures as part of daily responsibilities
Qualifications and Competencies
* Safety driven
* Knowledge of BCAA and airport regulations
* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Basic understanding of audits
* Flexibility in working hours, including occasional weekend and night shifts
* At least 12 months of experience in aviation
* Ability to communicate fluently (verbal and written) in French, Dutch, and English
* Ability to provide information and explain procedures
