Business Analyst – Publications, Approvals & Patent Applications
Initial 6 month freelance contract + possible extension after
Leuven, Belgium (3 days onsite per week)

The assignment
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements related to publication processes, approval workflows, and patent application systems
* Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), including user story writing, backlog management, acceptance criteria definition, and DoD/DoR practices
* Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Brief and translate to key development partners for build
* Facilitate workshops, meetings, and stakeholder discussions to align on requirements and priorities
* Work closely with technical teams to ensure accurate implementation of solutions
* Support project management activities including planning, tracking progress, and managing risks and dependencies
* Design and execute test plans, coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and ensure solutions meet business requirements
* Analyze and manage data related to publications and patent applications, ensuring data integrity and usability
* Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend scalable solutions
* Maintain documentation including process flows, system diagrams, and requirement specifications
Required knowledge and skills
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in environments involving publications, approvals, or intellectual property/patent processes
* Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies and tools (e.g., user stories, process mapping, requirement documentation)
* Solid technical acumen with the ability to communicate effectively with development teams
* Experience with project management principles and tools (Agile/Scrum experience is a plus)
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with workflow automation tools or document management systems
* Knowledge of data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
* Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP) or Agile methodologies
