S&P Global
Publiée le 9 juin
Description de l'offre

The Principal Analyst for LPG and other liquid bulk products is a pivotal member of the CERA Shipping Analytics and Research team, responsible for strengthening market intelligence, research cadence, and data quality for S&P Global Energy’s Commodities at Sea service. Reporting to the analyst team leader, this role combines independent subject‑matter expertise with close collaboration across a global team of analysts, data scientists, engineers, product managers, and commercial stakeholders. The analyst translates complex shipping and commodity flow signals into actionable intelligence for a diverse client base.

Responsibilities and Impact

A core responsibility is stewardship of commodity flow and fleet metrics datasets. The analyst “owns” data integrity, monitoring for gaps and anomalies, refining pipelines and validation logic, and shaping data structure to ensure outputs remain analytically sound and commercially relevant across LPG and liquid bulk segments.

The role centers on producing and maintaining data‑driven insights, written analysis, and quantitative models that clarify current market conditions and near‑term trends. This includes interpreting trade flows, fleet utilization, and inventory movements, connecting these to supply‑and‑demand fundamentals, and presenting clear, actionable outputs with measurable indicators and stated assumptions.

The Principal Analyst integrates and reconciles data from governments, market intermediaries, and third‑party providers, exercising judgment on source reliability and bias. They help expand the data ecosystem by identifying and vetting new sources, assessing feasibility and impact on products and client use cases.

Client communication is essential: the analyst translates findings into clear messages for published notes, presentations, and direct interactions, adapting analysis for different audiences while maintaining transparency and rigor. They represent Commodities at Sea’s viewpoint, helping clients interpret data within broader market context.

Original research and data mining are key; the analyst explores datasets to uncover patterns and relationships, generating distinctive, defensible insights that support new content, client conversations, and product enhancements. Their research agenda keeps the service fresh, relevant, and predictive.

Operational accountability is maintained through disciplined documentation of research processes, assumptions, and methodologies, establishing internal standards and supporting business continuity and transparency across the global analyst organization.

While coverage is mainly focused on the Americas, the analyst’s insights may extend to other global markets as needed, ensuring comprehensive and flexible market intelligence.
