The role focuses on developing advanced projection systems with DLP technology and solid‑state light sources (laser, LED, phosphor).Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimize illumination systems for 1‑DLP projectors.Develop optical models using Zemax OpticStudio, including light source coupling, illumination optics, integrator rods, light tunnels, homogenization optics, and relay optics up to the DMD.Define and review projection lens specifications with system and lens suppliers.Apply colour science principles to achieve target colour, brightness performance, and stability.Measure and validate colour, luminance, and uniformity using spectrometers, analyze results, and correlate with simulations.Develop analysis tools and perform data processing using Python or other scientific programming languages.Collaborate with key optical suppliers on requirement definition, technical reviews, design follow‑up, performance validation, prototype builds, optical alignment, and system‑level testing in cooperation with operations and production engineers.Document designs, results, and design decisions; provide maintenance, support, and continuous improvement for existing products.ProfileMaster’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or equivalent.Strong experience with Ansys Zemax OpticStudio.Solid knowledge of illumination optics for projection systems, projection lens definition, colour science and colourimetry (CIE colour spaces), and hands‑on measurement equipment.Experience with laser‑based projectors, DMD characteristics and illumination requirements, optical tolerancing and stray light analysis, laser and optical safety standards, and product development from concept to industrialisation.International supplier collaboration experience.Strong oral and written communication skills in English and/or Dutch.Soft SkillsSelf‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Team player capable of working in multidisciplinary teams.Proactive, result‑driven, innovative thinker with analytical skills.Detail‑oriented, quality‑conscious, and cost‑aware.Willing to travel occasionally to Barco locations, suppliers, or customers worldwide.Our OfferCompetitive salary based on experience, bonus system, group and health insurance, continuous learning opportunities, and a modern state‑of‑the‑art working environment.Compliance & D&I StatementWe conduct business with integrity, responsibility, and compliance across all operations, adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to ethical conduct, quality standards, cyber security, sustainability, data protection, confidentiality, and safety.At Barco, innovation drives everything we do.
